The South end of the stage was called Georges Stage, where the Birkenhead, Eastham and Wallasey ferryboats had their berths. Traffic and horse drawn carts made their way to the luggage boats, from a floating roadway that gave vehicles access to the stage. For many years the landing stage was congested at bank holidays, as people waited to board the day excursions to Eastham, New Brighton, North Wales or the Isle of Man |
