he Birkenhead  ferryboats  use  to  operate a triangular service between Liverpool, Rock  Ferry and New Ferry. In  1922 the New Ferry terminal closed  after a  Dutch Steamer  damaged  the  pier,  but  the  Rock  Ferry service continued  until 1939. During  the summer months the Liverpool to Rock Ferry crossing was popular with Liverpool cyclists, as the made their way to Cheshire and North Wales
