Liverpool Docks |

The first commercial dock in England was opened in Liverpool in 1715. Later it became know as the Old Dock. Thomas Steers was the engineer responsible for the dock. The dock was closed in 1826 and the site used for the new Custom House opened in 1839. The Custom House also housed the Excise and Post Offices and the accommodation for the Dock Trustees |
