During both World Wars the Princes Landing Stage was a busy place as many thousands of American and Canadian troops and their equipment were landed at the port. Trains from the Riverside Station, took them to the  south of England  and  then  on  to  the conflicts  in  Europe. In  the Second World War fighter planes and  tanks were off loaded at the stage
