Ship Wrecks

 

Mariners have always faced many hazards at sea. Ships left port for deep sea voyages to never be seen again. Sailing vessels were sunk after being run down at night by steamers. Near to land and in busy shipping channels poor visibility, navigational errors, mechanical  failure or collisions often led to ships getting into difficulties, which ended in many cases with the loss of the vessel, its cargo and crewmen
